Biography[]

Modern Warfare 2[]

ACHES started playing during Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. However it was during Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that he began competing at major events. His first major team was Leverage where he began his partnership with longtime teammate, TeePee. They would team up with Fatalize and Carnage for their first big tournament, the MLG Online National Championship. Following that event the roster had a bit of a make over with Miles and Juhgee replacing Fatalize and Carnage. This roster would go into MLG National Championship 2010 and finish a very impressive 2nd place. Aches took home a share of the $6,000 his team received.

Black Ops[]

Upon the release of Black Ops, Aches kept the team name of Leverage, however they came under the sponsorship of Quantic, thus creating Quantic LeveraGe. Along with Teepee, Aches recruited Bobby and FEARS to the team going into the new game. The team won the first tournament of the new game, the MLG $25K. The tournament was played online and netted them a split of $10,000 for taking first. Despite the win, Aches felt the team could get even better, replacing FEARS with Scump going into the first major LAN event of the season, MLG Dallas. They once again took the win, proving to be a dominant team. However, they weren't able to replicate the same performance at MLG Columbus, placing 4th despite the same roster.

Following this 4th place performance, which Aches considered disappointing, he decided the team needed a change and replaced Bobby with Proofy. Aches felt this team was stronger, and was vindicated when the team took 1st place at MLG Anaheim. The team would stay together for MLG Columbus as well, however their performance was rather poor finishing in 6th. Following this event, Proofy decided to go back to OpTic Gaming. To fill the gap, Aches decided to bring back FEARS to the team. Unfortunately however, they were not able to replicate the success of the roster from the beginning of the season, as they finished in 5th and 6th respectively at the last two events of the year.

Modern Warfare 3[]

With the success of Black Ops 1, the scene was expecting to continue to grow in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. However, with no real support from the developers and the tools necessary for proper LAN events not really there, the game was not picked up by MLG to be on the circuit. Many of the pro players decided to take this year off with no major tournaments in America to play in. Aches did attend one event in the UK this year - EGL 8. The team consisted of himself and Teepee, along with 2 pick ups - John and Nadeshot. The team went under the name Leverage and finished poorly in 8th place. This was the worst LAN performance to date for Aches, although it was with a pick up team rather than a set roster. He did not compete at anymore major events for the rest of the game.

Black Ops 2[]

The release of Black Ops 2 was highly anticipated within the community, and for good reason. There was more competitive support than any previous title, and for the new season Aches, along with TeePee and FEARS, decided to join compLexity, and added Crimsix. Crimsix had previously played competitive Call of Duty during Call of Duty 4, but had moved to Halo for the previous years. Complexity started well, winning the first online tournament of the season, Frag Cup IV. Following the win, they went on to place 2nd at UMG Chicago. The team lost to OpTic Gaming in the finals, however the match was somewhat overshadowed after an altercation between Aches and Nadeshot. At the end of the match, with tensions high, words were exchanged and Aches pushed Nadeshot. The altercation was recorded in a now popular video[30], and both players have since stated they regret the incident.

After finishing 2nd, Aches was unsatisfied and a roster change was made in which FEARS was release, and replaced by TuQuick. Unfortunately, TuQuick was not the answer to the teams problems as they finished 4th at the next 2 events including the biggest tournament of the year, the Call of Duty Championship. Disappointed they came up short, Aches once again felt the team needed a change. TuQuick was dropped, and Clayster recruited in hopes of improving results. The new roster attended the MLG Spring Championship with hopes of winning, and did so, taking home $20,000. Following the event, Complexity travelled to London to compete at Gfinity 1, and took 1st place again. Following their success in Europe, the next event was the MLG PAX Prime Invitational. This was the first time the team lost with Clayster on the roster, losing in the finals to UNiTE Gaming. Despite the loss, Aches felt the team was able to rebound from the defeat and no changes were necessary. The team returned to form, winning all of the last 4 events to close out Black Ops 2. These events included UMG Atlanta, another trip to London for Gfinity 2, a 4 team invitational at the MLG Fall Invitational, and finally ESWC in France. Given the success the team had toward the end of the season, many regard them as one of the best two teams in Black Ops 2, alongside Fariko Impact.

Ghosts[]

Following the winning streak the team ended Black Ops 2 with, Aches had more winning aspirations going into Call of Duty: Ghosts. A few weeks after the release of the game, Aches and the rest of the team attended the first event, MLG Fall Championship. Picking up where they left off, the team won the even. However, following the event Aches shocked the community by revealing that the team had dropped Clayster. Despite their success Aches claimed that the team could be better and clashing personalities had to be addressed. In Clayster's place, they picked up Karma, who had just left Team EnVyUs. The new roster's first event was UMG Philadelphia, which they won, and in doing so quietened those who were skeptical of the roster change.

The team then began competing in MLG's first online league, MLG Pro Circuit Season 1, as well preparing for the biggest tournament of the year, the Call of Duty Championship 2014. They qualified for this tournament with relative ease, but were defeated in the finals of the seeding tournament - Call of Duty Championship US Regional Final by Strictly Business, which some believed showed the team was not invulnerable. However, Aches claimed that the event was not of true importance as it was simply a qualifier and had no cash prize. CompLexity went on to win the tournament taking home the $400,000. After winning the World Championship, Aches and his team attended UGC Niagara where they once again took first place.

Following the event, the team announced it had been purchased by Evil Geniuses and would no longer compete under the compLexity organization. The first event the team attended under the new organization was the MLG X Games Invitational. For the first time in history, MLG was featured at the X Games in which the players would receive the same Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals as the extreme sports athletes. The team's winning streak came to an end here, as they took home the Bronze medal after losses to Team Kaliber and OpTic Gaming. MLG Anaheim was up next, which they qualified for through the MLG CoD League Season 2. In the International Playoffs at Anaheim, they would only drop a combined 5 maps on their way to the finals, in which they defeated OpTic Gaming to take first place.

Evil Geniuses hoped to continue their success in both the MLG CoD League Season 3 as well as at the upcoming LAN event in London, Gfinity 3. The team went to London expecting to win but were victim to a major upset. They were eliminated in the first round of bracket play by FaZe, finishing in a disappointing 5th-8th. This was the worst placing Aches had since the MLG National Championship 2011 back in Black Ops 1. After returning from Europe, the main focus was Season 3 of MLG's league, unfortunately Aches yet again became the center of controversy. After getting into an argument with MLG employees on twitter, he was suspended from the league for 4 games becoming the first player to ever be suspended from the league. At the same time, Evil Geniuses announced that they would not be competing at UMG Dallas 2014 due to some players not being able to attend. After returning to the league, Aches got into another altercation, for which he was suspended for another 2 games. At this time Karma announced that he no longer wanted to be on Evil Geniuses and was eventually loaned to FaZe Clan in exchange for Dedo. This left Aches as the captain of Evil Geniuses with now TeePee, Crimsix, and Dedo going forward for the rest of the game. After finishing 11th in the MLG League, and finishing 13-16th at UMG Nashville 2014, the team won the final event of the Ghosts season, ESWC 2014.

Advanced Warfare[]

Upon the release of Advanced Warfare (AW), Aches was in the midst of contract issues with Evil Geniuses. A few days later, after all EG members announced their next teams, it was announced that Aches would be joining FaZe Clan alongside Censor, Apathy, and SlasheR. The team performed well online in the 2K's and 5K's, but there were doubted whether Aches could match the dynastic performances of his past Evil Geniuses/Complexity sqauds with this new team. However, At MLG Columbus 2014, Aches had one of his most remarkable tournaments. Heading into Loser's Bracket Round 3 on Championship Sunday, it was discovered that Aches had severely injured his hand to the point where he was almost removed from play due to medical ineligibility as stated by MLG employee Adam Apicella. Despite his injury, Aches maintained his high level of leadership and skill to persevere , taking FaZe Clan all the way through the Loser's Bracket and to an extremely intense Grand final vs. OpTic Gaming. As the team coming through loser's bracket they had to win two best of 5's. They took the first series 3-1. The second best of 5 went all the way to a game 5 (the 9th game in the series), in which Aches and his team defeated OpTic 6-4 on Recovery SnD to be crowned MLG Columbus Champions.

At Call of Duty Championship 2015, now teaming with SlasheR, Enable and Parasite under FaZe Red, Aches placed 3rd, taking home $30,000 each. After this tournament, and for the remainder of the AW season, Aches played for a few different teams (Prophecy NA, TCM, Rise Nation), but failed to place higher than 5th at any tournament.

Black Ops 3[]

After a somewhat disappointing year in AW, Aches had left TCM in search for a new team. Teams were apprehensive to recruit him, however, Aches was given a chance by JKap to secure a place on the respectable Team EnVyUs along with his long time duo, TeePee and Advanced AW breakout player Slasher. Unfortunately the team did not perform well, and after finishing 5th in the 2016 NA CWL Stage 1 Regular Season, and 5-8th in the 2016 NA CWL Stage 1 Playoffs, TeePee retired from competing, and Aches joined to Nadeshot's new organization 100 Thieves. 100 Thieves performed very poorly at MLG Anaheim Open 2016, not winning a single map and finishing 17-20th. For the 2016 Call of Duty World League Championship qualified under Cloud 9 with Assault, Ricky and Lacefield. Considering the short period of time the team had been together, they performed reasonably well, even eliminating the tournament favourites OpTic in an intense series. The team fell in the next round though against FAB Games eSports, and finished 5-6th overall, taking home $17,500 each.

Infinite Warfare[]

Aches remained with the same Cloud 9 team for the start of the Infinite Warfare (IW) season. The team began well, taking 2nd place at the first LAN event of the year, 2017 CWL Las Vegas Open, falling to Rise in the grand final. However, following some average placings in the online MLG GameBattles 2K tournaments, the team placed very poorly at both 2017 CWL Atlanta Open and 2017 CWL Paris open. Cloud 9 would go onto place 9-12th at the CWL Dallas 2017 securing their place at Stage 1 of the Global Pro League. Following a poor Stage 1 performance the team released Ricky and Lacefield replacing them with Priest and Xotic. This move proved to be beneficial as Cloud 9 qualified for Stage 2 of the Global Pro League through Relegation. With ACHES leadership they then went on to surprise everyone by placing 4th at CWl Anaheim 2017.

Trivia[]

  • ACHES teamed with TeePee for over 3½ years. They were the longest running duo ever in professional Call of Duty.
  • ACHES' gamertag comes from his old gamertag "HeaDaChEz(HeadACHES), which he played under in WaW & CoD4.
  • ACHES was the winningest player in Call of Duty history for 7 months (November 2014 - May 2015).
  • ACHES was 1 of 6 players to be apart of the compLexity/Evil Geniuses dynasty; winning a total of 14 events with/during this dynasty.
  • ACHES won the first championship in Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, Black Ops 2, Ghosts, and Advanced Warfare. Modern Warfare 3 did not have an equivalent event, so his streak was broken when he failed to win the Totino's Invitational to start off the Black Ops 3 season with a win.
  • ACHES is considered to be the "villain" of the Call of Duty scene because of his unique and instinctive gameplay style, strategies, and the ability to find players with great potential to create huge upsets on high-caliber teams.
  • ACHES has 17 LAN Championships.
  • ACHES was the Pro Player analyst for the 2017 CWL Global Pro League Stage 1 Week 2.
