History[]

Black Ops 3[]

On November 9, 2015, Luminosity Gaming announced their expansion into Call of Duty eSports with the signing of Crowder, ProoFy, Spacely, and John for the 2015 - 2016 season. The team would first be invited to the Totino's Invitational 2015 at the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. the team would be matched up against Rise Nation. Their newly build roster was too much for the team and they would lose the series 1-3 and be eliminated from the tournament. The team would then practice for the upcoming 2016 CWL NA Pro Division Qualifying Invitational Tournament that would able them to qualify for the 2016 COD World League NA Pro Division Stage 1. The team would be placed in Group B along side Rise Nation, Team eLevate, and 3sUP. The team would face off against Team eLevate in the first series and would lose 1-3 and be pushed down to the Losers Bracket. The team then would go up against 3sUP. The team would have no problem and win 3-0 moving on to the second decider match with Team eLevate. LG would be swept and be eliminated from the tournament. After the tournament, the team decided to make a roster change. The team would replace ProoFy and switch in Saints in time for the 2016 CWL NA Pro Division Online Qualifying Tournament. The team would start the tournament with no losses. The next day the team would punch their way to the decider match between Enigma 6 Gold after only losing 2 maps prior. The team would sweep Enigma 6 Gold and qualify for the 2016 COD World League NA Pro Division Stage 1. The team would finish 7th place in 2016 COD World League NA Pro Division Stage 1 with a 9-13 record. At 2016 NA CWL Stage 1 Playoffs, the team lost to Rise Nation in the first round 4-1 and finished 5-8th place.

Before the beginning of the 2016 NA CWL Stage 2 Regular Season, Luminosity would switch out John for TeePee and Spacely would move to substitute for StuDyy. Over the course of the stage, Luminosity hovered beneath the relegation line before finally reaching 7th place via tiebreaker in the final week. Due to another tiebreaker at the top of the standings, the team would face OpTic Gaming at the 2016 NA CWL Stage 2 Playoffs. Surprising everyone, Luminosity upset OpTic Gaming in a seven game series to advance to the semifinals. Luminosity would then be upset by Dream Team and finish in 3rd-4th place. The upset over OpTic Gaming earn the team enough CWL Championship Points to qualify for the 2016 Call of Duty World League Championship. They were placed in Group C and defeated ANZ teams Mindfreak and Chiefs eSports Club but lost to rising UK team FAB Games eSports. In bracket play, Luminosity defeated Team Allegiance before falling to Rise Nation and dropping to the Loser's Bracket and getting taken out swiftly by OpTic Gaming. The finished the event in 9th-12th place.

Infinite Warfare[]

In the days leading up to the release of Infinite Warfare, Luminosity dropped NAMELESS, Spacely, and StuDyy in favor of former Rise Nation players Classic, Octane and Slacked. The team attended the PlayStation Experience Invitational and won their two group stage matches before getting eliminated by Team Orbit 3-0 in the bracket stage. With a Top 4 finish, the team set their sights on the first major of the year, the CWL Las Vegas Open. They were joined in their group by Team Allegiance, Evil Geniuses, and CompLexity Gaming. The group finished in a three-way tie but Luminosity advanced to the Winners Bracket on head to head maps. In the first round, they were knocked into losers by eventual champions Rise Nation. The team took down Team Envy and Evil Geniuses before losing to Team Allegiance for a Top 6 finish. This would put them in a good position for CWL Pro League qualification. At CWL Atlanta, the team improved by winning their group with a 4-0 record and then beating Rise Nation in a Winners Bracket Round 1 rematch. Team Envy would beat them in the next round and Luminosity would then defeat Team Infused before losing to OpTic Gaming for a solid fourth place finish. For CWL Paris, Octane's friend Pandur subbed in for Saints as he cannot leave the United States. The team had to start in the Open Bracket due to European teams receiving more favorable seeding. After beating eUnited in the qualifying round, LG joined Rise Nation, Team Infused, and Supremacy in Group B. They could only beat Supremacy and were sent to losers. They beat SetToDestroyX in their first match but then fell to Fnatic, ending up Top 12. Overall it was not a terrible placing for using a sub and starting in Open. Going into CWL Dallas, Luminosity had not yet clinched qualification for the CWL Pro League, but only needed a few more points to do so. After a successful Group Stage, the team made it into Winners Bracket and solidified their spot in the league. In the Winners Bracket, OpTic Gaming beat them 3-2 and they fell to losers where they eventually would finish Top 8.

Luminosity entered the CWL Pro League Stage 1 in Group Yellow with eUnited, Epsilon Esports, and Millenium. They went 4-2 in the double round robin Group Stage and qualified for the playoffs. In Winners Round 1, the beat Team Envy and then lost to FaZe Clan in Round 2. Luminosity then went on a run and beat eUnited and OpTic Gaming and then got revenge against FaZe Clan to send them into the Grand Final against Splyce. The series was close but Splyce took map 5 and were crowned champions. It would not take long for Luminosity to get their chance at redemption as the teams would face off against each other again in the CWL Anaheim Grand Final, but this time Luminosity was the team coming from Winners Bracket. They took the series 3-1 and took home the organization's first ever Call of Duty Championship. Luminosity then went back to Columbus for the CWL Pro League Stage 2 Group Red with Fnatic, Evil Geniuses and Mindfreak. They would only one series, a map five against Fnatic, and qualify for playoffs at the top of the group. At Playoffs, they would face Splyce again, but this time it was a quick 3-0. Luminosity took on Team Envy but were taken down 3-2. After bouncing back against Fnatic, OpTic Gaming took them out for a Top 4 finish. All focus was now on the Call of Duty World League Championship 2017. Rise Nation, Supremacy, and Team Vitality joined them in Group D. Luminosity easily advanced as the second seed after beating the two French orgs. In the Championship Bracket, Luminosity met immediate turmoil as eUnited beat them 3-1 and sent them into the first round of losers. With all odds stacked against them, LG defeated Fnatic, Team Infused, Splyce, eUnited, and Rise Nation en route to the Losers Final against OpTic Gaming. Unfortunately, the run would end there and Luminosity would finish third place.

World War II[]

Classic and Saints would depart in the offseason and were replaced by world champions JKap and John from Team Envy. Luminosity began the new season at CWL Dallas in Pool B with Ground Zero, Epsilon Esports, Team Allegiance, and Team Vitality. They were upset 3-2 by Team Vitality but beat the other three teams 3-0 and advanced to the Winners Bracket as the top seed in the pool. eUnited sent them into losers for the second event in a row with a 3-1 win. The run in losers was short as Luminosity beat Enigma6 Group 3-0 and then lost to Echo Fox 0-3. The team finished Top 8. Before the next major, Luminosity attended the CWL Northern Arena Showdown, am eight team invitational that some top teams like OpTic Gaming chose not to attend. Luminosity won the event with a 12-4 map record and looked good going into CWL New Orleans and earned enough points to qualify for the CWL Pro League. At Nola, the beat Rise Nation, Red Reserve, GGEA Orange, and GGEA Blue in Group C, and then FaZe Clan and Echo Fox in the Winners Bracket before losing to Team Kaliber in the Winners Final. They took down Rise Nation in the Losers Final to set them up a Grand Final rematch against Team Kaliber. They took the series in a 3-1 series and forced the reset. In another close series, Team Kaliber edged it in map 5 to win the championship.

Luminosity started off Division B of the CWL Pro League by winning their first five matches and six of their first seven going into the CWL Atlanta break. They continued their hot run by winning their four Group Stage matches against Team Kaliber, Evil Geniuses, Ghost Gaming, and Team Vitality and their first two Winners Bracket matches against Mindfreak and OpTic Gaming before falling 3-1 to Rise Nation in the Winners Bracket Final. They were then bounced from the tournament by Red Reserve and finished third. Returning for the second half of the Pro League Stage 1, Luminosity went 5-2, and finished second place behind FaZe Clan in Division B. Before the Playoffs, the team went across the Atlantic for CWL Birmingham. They went 3-1 in Group D, only losing to Splyce. They then battled into the Grand Final by beating Team Kaliber, OpTic Gaming, and Rise Nation in the Winners Bracket. Splyce would make their way through the Losers Bracket and face Luminosity again. They would beat Luminosity again to reset the bracket but Luminosity would win the second series 3-1 and win Birmingham. Returning to America for the CWL Pro League Playoffs, Luminosity looked to repeat. They beat Red Reserve and eUnited but were knocked out of the tournament after losing to OpTic Gaming and FaZe Clan. At SEAttle, Luminosity struggled heavily at Seattle and finished dead last in their Group with a 1-3 and were forced to start at the beginning of the Losers Bracket against Open Bracket Team GGEA Orange. After a 3-0 there and a 3-0 against Splyce they faced OpTic Gaming in what would be the final ever match for the dynasty of Scump, Crimsix, Karma, and FormaL. Luminosity won 3-1 and continued their run by beating Enigma6 Group before falling to Rise Nation 3-2.

After Seattle, the mid season break began and Luminosity was one of many teams making a change. Octane left to join OpTic Gaming while FormaL came in the other direction. They were placed in Division B again in the CWL Pro League Stage 2. After beating eUnited and Tainted Minds, they lost four straight series to end the first half of the league 3-4. They went to CWL Anaheim looking to get back on the right path and did so by going 3-1 in their group and then beating OpTic Gaming in Winners Round 1. Red Reserve beat them in Winners Round 2 and Luminosity then beat FaZe Clan and UNILAD Esports before getting taken out by Red Reserve again in the Losers Final for a third place finish. Going back into the league, Luminosity needed to win most of their remaining matches to stand a chance at qualifying for Playoffs. They could not do so as they went 3-4 again. The Call of Duty World League Championship 2018 rolled around again and Luminosity was aiming for the top to redeem their past few results. The went 3-0 in their group and did not drop a map. In Winners Round 1, they faced their former coach, Spacely's, team, Elevate and were upset 3-0. Needing another miraculous losers run, they beat Rise Nation, Lightning Pandas, and Red Reserve before losing to eUnited in Losers Round 4. They finished Top 6.

Black Ops 4[]

With the game switching to 5v5, the team had a few changes to make. Gunless and Classic joined with JKap being forced out to go to eUnited. Luminosity went to CWL Las Vegas to begin another campaign. They went 3-1 in their Pool and finished second to Evil Geniuses who gave LG their only loss. OpTic Gaming sent them to losers immediately with a 3-0 win. They then dropped to face 100 Thieves for Top 8. After beating them 3-1, they took down Str8 Rippin and Team Sween. That last win granted them automatic qualification to the CWL Pro League. The league, however, did not start as they would have hoped. After signing Ricky as their coach and substitute, Luminosity lost their first four Pro League matches. This fourth loss against Gen.G started an incredible run, though. Luminosity finished the week with three straight wins, ended that part of the league 3-4, and went into CWL Fort Worth hot. They beat Excelerate Gaming and Midnight Esports to advance out of their Pool but then lost to Splyce in what would be a seeding match since Splyce also won their first two matches. Luminosity defeated Gen.G 3-2, and then Enigma6 Group 3-0 to set up a rematch against Splyce. Luminosity got their revenge and won the series 3-1 and then beat Splyce 3-1 again in the Grand Final to win the Fort Worth Championship. Many believed that this run of form was due to the use of the Rampart assault rifle, which was GA'd after the event. With the Rampart gone, Luminosity fell apart too. They went 2-2 in the Cross Division play, going to map five in all four series and then headed off for CWL London. Luminosity lost all three Pool Play matches against Gen.G, Denial Esports, and Splyce. Starting at the beginning of losers, they managed to clutch up in map five against Elevate and then FaZe Clan although many believe FaZe should have won the series due to a bug in map three. They then lost to Team Envy in the next round and finished Top 8.

Going into the second half of the CWL Pro League, Luminosity was a middle of the pack team but quickly dropped down in the standings. They lost their next six matches and fell to 5-12, dead last in Division A. Despite being one of the best players in the game, Gunless proved to be a difficult teammate again and that resulted in Luminosity sending him to the bench to be replaced by coach Ricky.
